Memorial Day Sale & Remembrance

50% off all 3 Boys & A Ball of Yarn Ravelry patterns!

Reflecting this morning on all the brave men and women who have fought for our country. My grandpa was a WWII Veteran. He found on the front lines on the Battle of the Bulge. He carried a bible in the front pocket of his shirt. A piece of shrapnel pierced it and stopped just mm from his heart. To this day we know it was the Word of God that saved my grandpa and allowed our family line to continue.

I miss our weekly conversations, his "Grumpy Old Man" personality and all the memories we made growing up over the years at the lake house and at the farm. I learned a lot about life from this man. Can't wait for a big grandpa bear hug in heaven one day.

Love you,
"SusieQ"

Do you have a Memorial Day story to share? I'd love to hear from you in the comments below.

  1. That's awesome! My grandpa would never talk about what he did or went through. I do know he served in the Army and Marines.

  2. You know what Pamela...it took many, many years for my grandpa to talk about it too. He never would talk about it with my mom, but when he was much older (in his 80's) he would talk to me about it...a little. I cannot imagine going through what he did.
